Sadly, Philip Hughes died on November 27th 2014 by an extremely fast cricket ball which hit him on the top of the back of his neck. He was only 25 and he played for Australia in cricket. An Australian doctor said that he passed away in hospital, never regaining consciousness. So he didn’t even know about anything that happened to him. He also played for Hampshire, Middlesex and Worcestershire. Philip Hughes collapsed face first on the ground after being hit by a bouncer by 22 year old Sean Abbot. There is a campaign which has gone viral around the world called ‘put out your bats’ and it is in memory of Philip Hughes. Many people are putting images of a cricket bat propped up against a wall or a post with a cricket hat on the handle on social media, in memory of him.
